Was the Knife that strong?

I think that the subtle kinfe rilly is not that great. I mean.. look, its a melee weapon. Short ranged. A sniper on a tower could maul the bearer at distance. Neva know what hit 'em...

It wasn't intended as a weapon of attack, more as a tool of power, hence the subtlety.

it's not so much that it was strong that it was sharp... so sharp that the human eye could not see its finest edge.

but even more importantly, before it was a weapon, it was firstly a tool for cutting into other worlds

but the knife's got its own intentions remember, god-destroyer... a destroyer would thus be a weapon. and the whole while, it being a tool to cut between world, the knife would eventually lead them to the battle where they released the authority from the crystally thing, where he disintegrated (died).

So...if there were two knifes, do you reckon one could cut through the other?

I'd say the intentions of the user would determine that if the intentions of both knives were the same.

it's supposed to be able to cut through anything, but the cutting knife would have to cut the cutted knife on the side that didn't... wait, both sides cut like mad, just one side cuts into worlds... plus the cut's really clean... that means, if you cut one of the knives down the middle, you could have three knives!

OK, here's a little thought-experiment.

What happens if you (or Will Parry) walk up to a high vertical wall (let's say it's made of the finest, densest marble and it's 100 metres high) and attempts to stick the Knife into it so that, say, he can use it to climb the wall. Is that possible?

Ugh... The knife would cut a scar in the wall with the cutting side, and if you turn the knife 180° and use the other side, it would just cut you into another world. Or does the knife cut you into another world if you´re not trying?
Plus you'd almost need two kinfes to be able to actually climb... The best way would probably be to just cut holes into the wall and climb up using them...

Where does the material go that the Knife displaces?

I think it's just pushed a bit denser into the marble on both sides of the scar...

No, you have to 'feel' the way along the knife to find the point where you can cut through to the other world.. remember how much trouble Will had trying to do it at first?

I just assumed it worked the same way a normal knife did in that way..

But I don't think it wouldbe muh good for climbing with, i'm not sure if the knife would be physically stong enough not to bend with the weight of someone on it (even if you did have 2 so it would work properly)

well the end of the knife doesn't necessarily have to be sharp. the subtle knife can't cut you from the flat side.
