The Republic of Heaven

Finding the writing case

Discuss the second book of the trilogy

Will only finds his father because A) he was at the right time and place to see the cat go through the window and B) his father was looking for the person who had the knife, which happened to be him. If Will had turned up 30 seconds after he did at the hornbeam trees, he'd never have found his father or Lyra and would probably be in police custody after a few days.
And then there would be no need for a book about it. And then Merlyn wouldn't have made BttA. And we'd all have very boring lives.

Those right time-right place moments are cool, no? :P

Actually there is a lot of this kinds of things happened also in the real world. It sure is strange but, hey life is kind big and scary thing after all. And I believe wills sub-conscious could come up with something that brilliant.

and to the OT: Yes its always funny that there is lotsa unodd coincidences when you are following some sort of narrative especially this deep and vast.

Put like that, she's just a plot device. Yet I wonder what would become of me if I were in her situation.

He knew when he was looking for it before he went to sleep, he just couldn't remember, and he remembered when he was sleeping. I've had dream like that before, where i remember where I've put something that I was looking for. It's handy. :P
