Re: Favourite parts of TGC/NL
There were a few things that I really enjoyed.
I thought "The Silver Guillotine," the chapter where Lyra and Pan are almost separated, was one of the most emotionally wrenching parts.
The parts taking place in Svalbard were well-written. Whenever an author introduces an unfamiliar race into a story, I love learning about the race's culture and traditions; not only was the fight between Iorek and Iofur fun to read, but you also get a big glimpse at the panserbjørne.
And the last line... I read it over and over again each time I read the book. "So Lyra and her dæmon turned away from the world they were born in, and looked towards the sun, and walked into the sky."

It's so hard to chose the book is just so well written, the imagery he uses is unbelievable, but yeah I'd have to chose the last chapter its called 'Bridge to the stars' right? but yeah the way PP builds up the tension hits us with the emotional death of roger and then leave us begging for more...I'm just glad that I read it when TSK and TAS were already out and I didn't have this cruelly long wait like for TBOD.
The ending scene is just written brilliantly, the chapter "Bridge to the stars". Although the chapter 'Lyra's Oxford' is hugely underrated, a brilliant piece of imagery and setting the scene, PP's genius at work again.

What does it take to make us real?
