The cards got me as well but I learnt too late that they were a waste of money, plus I (and no-one i knew) had any idea of how to use them, I was too young to be bothed reading the instructions, so I just looked at the pictures and trade them.
What a waste

Yeah if I added it about right...my parents and family probably spend almost $1500 in just pokemon stuff for me and my sister. It was ridiculous.

Re: Any Poke-fans out there?
Yeah, Yellow got me into Pokémon! But there's no denying that although the early games did have shining points of awesome story (like Team Rocket taking over Silph or Team Rocket taking over the radio tower), it was basically kid stumbles into top secret evil plan, kid thwarts top secret evil plan. RSE too. But DP was all super-secret covert organization that you think's doing good but they're actually not and oh the plot twists! and then climactic battle on top of the mountain and "watch out, I'll be back...!"Red, Blue and Yellow are Classics, no matter how weak a story line they had.Red had a weak storey line?!
Gasp
They will never bad (like the first Legend of Zelda...Classic).
It was awesome.

I remember in the red and blue versions there was a glitch were if you used "surf" on the Right edge of the Island in the bottom left hand corner of the map, you could get crazy messed up pokemon. some would have really high levels or double health bars...was super cool.

University = playing through 'Fire Red' on my emulator
If you want to know what makes me sad
Well it's hope, the endurance of faith
A battle that lasts a lifetime
A fight that never ends
Walking in the countryside
It seems that the winds have stopped
Tell my mother I am sorry
And I loved her
