The Movie Trailer thread

Postby daemon_light » Mon Jun 18, 2007 3:45 am

Ok... I am a huge movie guy (though I do like books better) and I love seeing GREAT trailers. I'm curious as to which trailer you've seen for 07 has been the best.
As for me... I'm going to go with Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix's domestic trailer. If you haven't seen it yet you need to because it is absolutely fantastic. It's on Yahoo. Theatrical/Domestic, not Teaser.

The recently released "I am legend" teaser is a bit great.

Pity it's about as generic a Hollywood novel adaption as you can get. Why did they have to go and set it in New York and have Will Smith play the lead? Just why?
Well, to cut a long story short, he got away with my snorkel.
But I made a solemn vow right then and there, that I would not rest, I would not sleep for an instant, until the one-nostriled man had been brought to justice.

But first I decided to buy some donuts.

Cause Will Smith is awesome and hasnt done an action role in a while. Plus LA is less "omg, 9/11 evocation!" I'll keep an open mind about it for now, no reason it cant be great just cause they shifted location.

Theres been some great Transformers trailers, inevitably really with a Bay film.

I got so excited when I saw the new trailer! I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, and the trailer actually made the movies look good compared to other films, just just Harry Potter movies.

Well it's certainly not some big budget film, but i thought the trailer for Margot At The Wedding (Nicole Kidman's new film) was very funny.
Especially Jack Black's "punching people" part and when she gets stuck in the tree.

For me, it's a tie between The Dark Knight Teaser and JJ Abrams Untittled Monster Flick.

uhh....The Golden Compass trailer was really wonderful. Maybe it's bias, I don't know, I think it's a good trailer.

Super Bad. Just from seeing the trailer I want to see that movie very badly.

I can't think of any others at the moment. Yea the Harry Potter one was good, but I thought TGC's trailer was better. Again, probably bias.

If that new GC footage counts... then I like that one a lot.

I agree, and also with the sentiment about that unnamed monster film, and the Beowulf tralier was pretty cool.

Yeah I thought that looked really cool. Angelina Jolie looks hot even as a CG character... lol

The best Trailer is this Trailer to Aliens vs Predators: Requiem, Sequel to the Lack luster AVP and from what I'm seeing, redemption from it.

My favourite trailer for a TV program was one that channel five (UK) ran a few months back promoting the most recent series of CSI: Crime Scene Investogation.

It had some good music in the background, that I found both ironic and fitting.
Let's take a dive and swim right through sophisticated points of view.

Hell yeah, I can't wait to see that. AVP was so disappointing but it looks like they've really gone back to the horror/gore roots.

If you want to know what makes me sad
Well it's hope, the endurance of faith
A battle that lasts a lifetime
A fight that never ends

Walking in the countryside
It seems that the winds have stopped
Tell my mother I am sorry
And I loved her

DEAR GOD AVP: Requiem looks bitchin'

It looks so much more like the comics... everybody dies in that trailer. I guess that's the R rated trailer. It should be good.

only thing that bugs me about the AvP trailer is that did they have to show like every freakin' death in the movie? what's left to see?
There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all

That is kind of true... I can't imagine they would have that many deaths. Probably only one or no characters will survive. Like in the AVP, which I liked even though it was bad. Predator movie is amazing though.

I'm just back from the cinema where i saw a trailer for the new Elizabeth movie. It seemed to last half an hour and by the end i felt like i'd just watched the whole film. It was pretty epic.

Oh my god! I love ironman! Can't wait... though I wouldn't say it was a very good trailer. Actually the trailer configuration sucked. It will be cool though.
