TBOD: The Book of Dust IS going to feature Lyra.

Postby Lord Godric » Wed Jun 20, 2007 11:00 pm

In an interview which Philip Pullman did with random house recently he commented that he was working on the Book of Dust which would wrap up story lines from the first trilogy. He also mentioned that it would feature Lyra as a main character. Also, he mentioned that he had to take Lyra to the equivalent of our middle east. Didn't he say that he wasn't going to write about Lyra or Will because their stories were finnished?

Also, bad news. He also said that at last November he was only a quater the way through the book. He did say, however, that it was going to be a long, long book-so thats good.

Just a bit of news, sorry if someone got here first.

But I thought that TBOD was about how Asriel met Coulter, how Serafina fell in love with Farder Korram and how Lee met Iorek. Wow, that's really interesting :D

This ties in with the cruise brochure included with "Lyra's Oxford". There were some peculiarities in this which have been discussed elsewhere ....
Do any of us, except in our dreams, truly expect to be reunited with our hearts’ deepest loves, even when they leave us only for minutes, and on the most mundane of errands? No, not at all. Each time they go from our sight we in our secret hearts count them as dead. Having been given so much, we reason, how could we expect not to be brought as low as Lucifer for the staggering presumption of our love?

of his beloved arises? doesn't his secret insight
into her pure features come from the pure constellations?"

Maybe it's Lyra being told the stories?
Maybe it's about her trying to re-read the golden compass (can't spell the actual name of it for the life of me) and as she asks questions to improve her ability, she asks about people she knows and the stories are the compass' telling of it?

The poster did mention it was in November. I hadn't seen it before, though. Has it been on this site anywhere?

this is wrong, the book of dust and the new book featuring lyra are different, the book of dust is about all of the secondary characters, wheras the new book is all about a new adventure for lyra, so dont get them confused!

well im pretty sure they are different because pullman himself said the book of dust DOES not contain lyra or will, and this new book is a NEW adventure for lyra, not the other characters.

He said that a long time ago, when the BoD was intended to be a smaller text. Now its sort of grown...

Reamber hes also said it will be the last HDM book.

Not entirely, those are just several stories that will be featured in it. There'll be MUCH more than that, trust me.
I'm pretty sure they're the same.
I believe this was mentioned in the "BOD or HDM4" poll: there's supposed to be LO, a red book, BOD, and then a green book - not BOD, another story about Lyra or Will.
To be myself, I have to put on an act.

yes, please don't call it hdm4. it's not a very descriptive acronymn, especially when other materials will contradict any sense of numbering. the going acronymn is tbod.

1. HDM4 sounds like a video game or a film 2. HDM 4 implies 4 sets of trilogies as HDM itself is a trilogy and 3. it will contain all the stories about how the side characters met, but will also include lyra aswell. There you go, sorted.
Hush, the babies are sleeping, the farmers, the fishers, the tradesmen and pensioners, cobbler, schoolteacher, postman and publican, the undertaker and the fancy woman, drunkard, dressmaker, preacher, policeman, the webfoot cocklewomen and the tidy wives. Young girls lie bedded soft or glide in their dreams, with rings and trousseaux, bridesmaided by glowworms down the aisles of the organplaying wood.
