Have read this and its a good book - even if you just read it for the summaries of harder to find Pullman books like Galatea & Haunted Storm.
The author makes some very good criticisms of pullman - eg. doing exactly what he attacks Narnia for in terms of religious / atheist brainwashing
However, he makes a big deal of saying that the Mary & Mulefa plot is there simply to attack religion & nothing else
