TBOD: Focusing on Lyra

PP said that it would centre on a sixteen year old Lyra, and he said there would be a whole new adventure. He didn't actually mention any other characters.

(I split this just because I was going to make a new topic on it anyway, which I think it deserves)
That info is
here, towards the bottom.
I was a bit disappointed to hear he hasn't even started it yet.. And this focusing on Lyra also disquiets me a bit, I thought Lyra's story was removed from TBoD so it wouldn't overshadow the others, but that looks not to be the case now.. And Iorek and Lee's early years might not be in it at all? Boo.

He talked about it in a way that implied it wouldn't be in TBoD, but another book altogether. He said that the story "needs to be told".

Pullman in fact has already stated that Lyra won't be in this book. The book will focus on minor characters such as Baruch and Balthamos, Lord Asriel and Marissa, Lee,Iorek and the witches.

Will was commenting on the latest news on TBoD, which can be read at
http://www.bridgetothestars.net/index.p ... p=11040401 ... it says that "He also talked about 'The Book of Dust' which he said he is going to start very soon, probably. It seems that rather than a selection of short stories, it is going to be a story about Lyra set four years after the events of 'The Amber Spyglass'. He talked about writing about the first meeting of Lee Scoresby and Iorek Byrnison, as something he would like to do but I did not get the feeling that it would form any part of 'The Book of Dust'. "
In a followup to that, another person who attended the event added that Pullman said TBoD probably won't be released for another two years.

its gonna be pretty big. Say PP started it today, he tries to write three pages a day. Give him one year to write it and another for all the pulishy stuff, a thousand odd pages!

Which will then be edited down to something reasonable, the way
TAS was.
I'm half expecting an extended edition of
HDM some day. It works for DVDs, why not books? (where "works"=="shifts more units")
