 because I made a mistake about the section
Seriously, write to an author to ask some questions about his work, about the news of his new book...;)

Oh I've done that... but it was a long time ago, I think I wrote to KG Applegate or something.
Whoever it was I got a pretty lengthy and personalized response. But it was just to demand, (not request) a second book and as it turned out there were about 6 other ones already.
I've got your nose Mr. Anderson, and I'm going to keep it.

I wrote to Dickens once, but the ~*dugong*~ wouldn't give me a reply.

"'She comes,' the trees sang. 'She comes,' the vines replied. ' She comes,' the hollow sky shrieked. ' Fall down before her in abject surrender!'
And Ghend walked once more through the wood and accross the plain as the wore on back to sunrise. "And how shall you greet her, my thief?" Ghend demanded of althalus as his eyes took fire.
" I shall defy her," the theif replied, " even as I defy you, and even as I defy your Master."

"Your puny defiance is on no moment, Althalus," Ghend of the burning eyes declared in tones of deppest contempt.
"For Gelta, Queen of the Night, shal overcome you, and I, Servant of Darkness, Shall bear you down into the pit, and Daeva, Master of all, Shall claim your soul..."

I wrote to a bunch of authors when I was a young lass (i.e. right after I found out how to). The ones I can remember are Marilyn Kaye (actually a handwritten message), Ann M. Martin, and Bill something who wrote a bunch of books about animals. I've also met Michael Hoeye, which was a pretty interesting experience. :]

Yeah, that would be kind of hard to find, but when I wrote to authors I just addressed it to them care of the publishing company. (e.g. Mr. Hoeye's would be...

Yes, I've done, to Rosie Rushton, Lemony Snicket, some French authors like Fanny Joly and Sophie Audouin-Mamikonian, and Philip Pullman himself.
They are all very sweet and answered to me. :D
So I have still some contacts with them.

I havn't tried Michael Hoeye ! :D
But I have read his book. Only one of them.

Thanks for the address, Claudia !
Bybye !

Did Mr Pullman write any of his reply in French? I hear he's quite proficient with the language.

I wrote to Caroline Lawrence by email. The best way to ask authors questions though is in person. We have had quite a few author visits at school: Adele Geras, Linda Newbury, Tim Bowler, Cathy Hopkins, George Layton, Caroline Lawrence. We've got Melvin Burgess coming in May, but unfortunately, he's not allowed to talk about his best book, Doing It.
Try and speak to authors in person, its so much more personal *ironic I know*

I was pointing out in a very obscure way that that was not in fact irony, but the opposite thereof. It is completely unironic that communicating with someone in person is the most personal way to communicate with them. Very common mistake, but that only makes it worse if you ask me.
