Best live musical performance ever
I saw Beck and Radiohead last night...
only two words to describe my reaction
Blown-Away!
Beck had all the puppets of the band working away in the back and even made a small video about his puppets walking around ireland and then finally trashing radioheads dressing room.
And then radiohead came on and the played for two hours straight of amazing music.....
An elven year old radiohead/beck fans dream in short.

Hot damn, I'd love to go to a Rammstein show. [hearts for eyes]Rammstein! They are pyromaniacs!! The singer has a coat that sets on fire, and the guitarists have masks that shoot flames 20 ft over the audience! Best I've ever seen!!

Thieved from my blog:
"And so it's time. Time to burn in hell for our sins. Time to be shown a god who falls asleep on the job. Time to hold up our plug-in babies. Time to rock to Muse. Woooo! Fantastic as usual (how many people can say 'as usual' when referring to Muse live? Muaha) but they really didn't hold anything back this time. Visually, it was the most impressive display I've seen from a band. Jets of steam finishing Hysteria; raining firework sparkles accompanying Starlight, Torrents of fire exploding from the ground upon Matt Bellamy screaming 'you will burn in hell for your sins!'. Take-your-breath-away stuff. And the music wasn't bad either. Invincible, Map Of The Problematique and Butterflies & Hurricanes being my favourites of the night probably. A band on form definitely, I await the Black Holes tour eagerly."

If you want to know what makes me sad
Well it's hope, the endurance of faith
A battle that lasts a lifetime
A fight that never ends
Walking in the countryside
It seems that the winds have stopped
Tell my mother I am sorry
And I loved her

Ahem *adopts condescending, patronising tone*
..and here's me thinking this thread was going to be about Bob Dylan's 17th May '66 gig at Manchester Free Trade Hall (Peter, don't tell me you were there?! )
I'm not a big fan of his but this gig was brilliant (got a tape)
"I don't believe you...You're a LIAR!"
(some bloke in the audience shouted Judas at Bob for playing amplified music)

Sounds like someone went to V last month That was amazing... but Radiohead were't as special as they have been in the past. I do stress it WAS amazing though, but something wasn't *quite* right. It definitely wasn't on a par with the South Park or Glasto shows.
Hmmm, I've seen so many bands over the years. Muse at Reading last weekend was pretty spectacular, but I've also seen them be awful in front of 200 people supporting Coldplay before either had an album out.
Morrissey springs to mind. Outdoor gigs in 2004 were good, especially Old Trafford when Johnny Marr joined him - that was a special moment.
I think Supergrass are my favourite set so far. 2004 Reading Festival, headlining the Radio 1 tent on the Sunday. Was with 20 friends, we were all together, it was my birthday and it was just a PERFECT gig, from the music played before to the party afterwards.
Just about old enough to remember seeing Nirvana live, but wasn't old enough to have any idea how the gig went. I don't think I was particularly interested.
They seem to have lost all their credibility over the years but Stereophonics' double-header of gigs at Donnington and Cardiff WERE great back then. Played the set in near-chronological order, absolutely ram-packed with every damn song you wanted to hear from the (then) three albums. Even got Ash, The Crocketts and The Black Crowes thrown in for a one-day mini-festival thing.
Scissor Sisters, Panic! At The Disco (sans bottles), Dresden Dolls, Gnarls Barkley ALL put on spectacular shows... as do Kylie, Madonna, Basement Jaxx, Chemical Brothers.
I think my favourite EVER night out was White Rose Movement / Cut Copy / Test-Icicles / Erol Alkan at Trash, about 18 months ago... that just WENT OFF. Not sure I've ever really recovered. Part of the weekend never dies.
Token mention of Soulwax.
Roll on Bestival at the weekend... I loves music, me.

I was there!Led Zeppelin at Earl's Court, 1975
First time I saw the Zep was at the New Theatre, Oxford. My mother found out I was going to bunk off school to queue for tickets and there was an almighty row. Seeing that I was determined, she went herself and queued on my behalf. Still find it hard to believe she actually did that.

No, I must check it out.Have you seen the DVD? It's excellent.I was there!Led Zeppelin at Earl's Court, 1975
Come to think of it, I might have been to one of those Genesis gigs as well. Saw them several times, including Oxford again. They used to have some cracking bands at the New Theatre back then.

Was Cee Lo as good as on record? He sounds a fantastic singer but apparently he can be a bit dodgy live....Gnarls Barkley ... put on spectacular show.

I never liked Take That. It wasn't anything to do with them, it was just that I didn'y get into music until the spice girls. They were the first band I ever liked.
