Come on then... admit it. What fears/phobias do you have?

One of mine is too embarrassing to mention, so moving swiftly on... I have this weird irrational fear whenever I hear an aeroplane outside that it's going to crash into our house. :( I'm also really scared of wasps. I hate the damn things! I've been stung twice, so as far as I'm concerned wasps are flying stripes of pure evil.

I'm scared of....

- Going out (sometimes)
- Losing certain people
- The truth.
- I'm not scared of them generally, but when I have flying insects in my room I do get scared of them because I don't want to wake up with one of them on my face or something :?

I think that's it.

Can't you tell us what that really embarrassing one is, Jez?

No. You reminded me of a couple of others though. First, a fear of just about any strange social situation. Secondly, a fear of death. Both of these amount to fear of the unknown really...

I live under the Manchester flight path, so scared of planes is out for me.
Buzzing insects in my room hack me off. I had a fly last week in the middle of the night which I had to kill with a bookmark so I could get some sleep.

I have vertigo. I'm not bothered by planes actually, but stuff like high bridges, or houses, buildings, etc make feel terrible.

Spiders - hate them soooooo much - i think they're out to get me! I also can't stand to be near clowns - if you met Coco The Clown you would understand why!

Yes, me too.
And spiders.
And clowns.
And big clocks.
And windmills.

why fear spiders? they're tiny, beautiful, clever, harmless (except from a very few varieties, most of which are located in australia thereby far away from most people here except tanya and i don't know any other aussies on this forum)

public speaking. talking in front of people, regardless of how many or what percentage of them are paying attention. i had to do a soliloquy from hamlet today in english class and i could hear the silence of the audience and it HURT, i was shaking like a leaf and i know if i had looked even one person in the eye i'd have passed out. (apparently i did good though, this is very surprising considering i hadn't a spark of acting energy and my intro of the soliloquy was absolute crap - i FORGOT THE PLOTLINE and where my part fit in. how the hell does that happen?)

and that nodding smiley on msn that darragh and sophie love to torture me with. it's evil! it's out to get me! it's going to eat baltaje!

I am absolutely fascinated with spiders.
I have no bloody clue as to why they terrify me.

Phobia = irrational fear

i dont like spiders in my bed (where they somehow end up quite often), or on me, but i don't mind them otherwise, and I don't understand why people don't like them, zemarls right, except we've got black widows here, you see those every once in a while, and those brown ones... anywyas

-getting really sick/ dying young
-i just thought of a new one the other day, it's not too likely right now, for me, but it is a defunetly possiblility for some people in the near future, food shortages.
I don't mind public speaking at all, here's a tip for those of you who do:
think about the people who your going to be speaking to, do you really care what any of them think? the ones you know well and love won't stop loving you if you make a fool of yourself, and the rest of them shouldn't be important enough to care about you or for you to care what they think of you. (this may just work with me becasue i really couldn't care less what [most] people think of me)

Jumping from tall things. Well, a fear of the compulsion to jump off of tall things. Not out of suicide, but just because it would be really stupid to, and I have some strange self destructive thing about it. No idea why.

And walking into lamposts. Because it really ~*iguana*~ hurts.

When I'm where it's dark, for instance in a cellar or when it's dark, I get the feeling like something's staring at me, when this happens at my home I usually run straight into my room, shut the doors and turn the lights on.
I won't even dare to look AT the windows cause then it feels like somethings standing right at my window and is still watching me....
Now I have to get to sleep!

My greatest fear is death, followed by being lonely. I'm an emitaphobe (vomit ) and scared of all bugs. Claustrophic. As for odd fears, I'm terrified of cut hedges. Especially after I went to Long Island, NY this summer, where privacy seems to be people's greatest pride, and they grow square (SQUARE!) hedges about 15 feet high. I prefer wild brambles, thank you. Also, the fear of being immobile. Not being able to travel from town to town from country to country, etc. Annnnnnd...the fear of government? Most, that is....

Not quite sure what you mean by that. Besides the fact that I think gender is just formed by society's steriotypes, lots of people, male and female, are scared of spiders. And everything else there. Except maybe hedges, which I've never heard of anyone else fearing...

i don't remember which thread but there was one just now where we were talking about if you were a girl or boy, read what i wrote and you'll get it, I think. anyways, yeah i agree about stereotypes. and hedges, that is strange. :?
