I still havent read them

only one. I was in Waterstones today, and I was going to but one, but I ended up buying another book and play instead. But they are brilliant, so I don't mind!

On an obscurely Discworld note, I thought I saw some lilacs blooming today. They're almost a month early. (just finished reading that one again, most of it is still fresh in my mind, *sniffle*)

Early? The lilacs were in full bloom in Krakow just a year ago (I wish I were there now). And if it's early for lilacs why is it that

April is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land

?

Because the Glorious 25th of May involves lilacs in full bloom, and I doubt that they'll still be in full bloom a month from now if they're open already. You haven't read that, have you?
That's the Discworld reason. There's also the fact that the lilacs in my backyard don't even have buds yet, and I think early blooms would be more appreciated around my house than they would in a school courtyard where nobody ever goes.

well, i've just finished a hat full of sky. it's possibly pterry's finest book since men at arms, i think, and granny weatherwax is at her best since witches abroad.

pterry's children's novels have been better than his adult ones lately. i hope he continues writing for the younger market.

go read it.

Discworld books are wonderful and hilarious as well as brilliant. I forget which ones I've read it's been so long. My friend got them when she went to Europe.

Just read two of my favourites again over the last few days, Thief of Time and The Fifth Elephant.

I think I'll be reading The Truth tonight coz thats another of my favourites.

Recently read A Hat Full of Sky (courtesy of Books Etc and a large cup of chai tea). It's great to see TP doing 'childrens'' books again - keeps 'im fresh. I think Tiffany's great, and I hope we see more of her. I'm sure we will... I wish he'd written (or would write) a few more Johnny books. However great the Discworld books are, I think some of his best have been for children.

In his Discworld-for-kids stuff, though, I keep looking out for references to other Discowrld characters and seeing none.

very dissapointing. I'm sure the rat twon (The Amazing Maurice) will get mentioned at SOME point...

Just for anyone here who particularly enjoys Pratchett's depiction of dwarf culture and especially cuisine, I found a comic strip in the newspaper today (doesn't have a webpage, apparently) that made me burst out laughing in the middle of breakfast - seeing as I was the only one awake at the time, that wasn't looked too kindly upon, but I've been wondering all day if this was an inadvertent coincidence, or a very quiet nod...

Meaning that she hopes Maurice and the rats will be themselves mentioned in another book. Then your reply:

So you should be. I have a delicate brain and am easy to disconbobulate.

NEW TP! Hurrah! Called 'Going Postal' (surely not to appeal to an American audience, Tez?) and I've read only the first few chapters (that's right - chapters! In Discworld!) because I no longer have a late-opening Books Etc with cheap hot drinks situated conveniantly locally.

On the other hand I do live next door to Holborn library. Double hurrah!
