ooo, is it!?
Children of the future age,
Reading this indignant page,
Know that in a former time
Love, sweet love, was thought a crime.

Re: Key Scenes of Knowledge
I wonder if the sex is relevant to knowledge here. In the thread dedicated to this I argued that PP deliberately leaves it to the reader to decide but when viewed in regards to the aims of the trilogy of as a whole I wonder if they actually did. The pursuit of knowledge in a teenager pretty much resolves around that although that's aside from the point. The term for sex within the bible is to "know" one another, Adam and Eves realisation of their nudity (and knowing each other, although I'm not sure they do it in the garden of Eden I'd have to check my NRSV) and the fact that they gain knowledge is punished sternly, no wonder PP dedicates a book to its pursuit.
