now that ive reread TAS i like it best the way it is, but wouldnt it have been possible for the angel person.. whats her face..xaph sumthing.. to tell Will and Lyra where the natural non-dust releasing windows were, instead of closing them, so that Will and Lyra could be together and countless children would not throw the books at the wall with tear filled eyes and cry, "why?" to the heavens. ya.

There are actually LOTS of loopholes.

It was only Will's theory that these long open windows weren't lettting Dust out, Xaphania certainly didn't seem to be convinced. Oh, and Soup, name one.

The existance of multiple knives in other worlds.

The first one isn't a loophole at all, they'd both die!
The second one isn't either, they'd still have to cut holes, leak Dust and create Spectres like the normal knife.
And they wouldn't really be together with Lodestone Resonators.

Has anyone found a loophole where they don't die, they don't cause the Dust to keep leaking, and they actually get to be together, not just talk to each other? Everything I could think of involved one of these.

remember the natural windows the angels talked about? Will asked if those were safe, and the angel said yes, but well close them cause if you think theyre there youll spend the rest of your life looking for them. why didnt she tell them where they were, not close them up, and let Will and Lyra use them? it all works...

The angels never actually say that Dust doesn't leak through those windows, that's just Will's theory. And they shouldn't be together!

I don't see why the fact that they were natural would make them any less damaging - dust would still leak into the abyss no matter how they had been opened.

Will thought that if they've always been there, they can't have caused that much damage or leaked Dust because conciousness is still here.
