Let's hope it doesn't have this map.

I don't condone this, by the way.

Illustrations of people, I think, are a no-no. I'd like to see them in my own imagination. But things like helpful little maps and various little interesting extras--that I would very much enjoy.

Okay, this is a bit of a late post, since I only read HDM now. I always thought it was another pointless Harry Potter-like book (although it was all written before) with no significance or relevance to the art of writing. I must say I don't want any pictures, I'd prefer the poetry quotes again.

I quite like the intro drawings in HDM, I was surprised they replaced them with quotes in AS. The drawings in LO are more decorative than anything else. On maps, I've countless tried to construct my own, including a map of the routes taken in Northern Lights, but it doesn't seem to work. I'd quite like to see an official map, but I get the impression the concept of a nation state might be quite different in Lyra's World; for instance, where does Muscovy end and Tatary start? Where do the Samoyeds and Kamĉatkans have their own say? It is not the same.

Apparently, TBOD will have a host decorative and imaginative drawings, a nice method of consuming pages in the book, hehe.

Since LO was a link book, originally part of TBoD, do you think the style of it is anything to go by? I do like the illustrator's woodcuts (although while the map of Lyra's Oxford is very pretty I try to avoid it, preferring my own vague imaginings).
