Phillip Pullman has again voiced his opposition to library closures, this time in a brief column in the Daily Mirror. Pullman's championing of the role that libraries play in introducing children to reading is again the core of his argument, with the author saying that:
“The most common tribute to the public library is when somebody says: 'It opened up the world for me when I was a child.' I want that sort of experience for every child.”
Pullman spoke at length about the issue to 'The Library Campaign' conference in October.
