So the entire saga hinged upon Lyra and Will facing their feelings for one another? :?:
Yes, but that's a little ambiguous. It wasn't enough for them to face their feelings alone. They had to face them together.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

The 'Moses' attribution is tongue-in-cheek. The citation is from Genesis 3:6.

Yes its exactly why in the end Asriel scarifices his life just to fine Lyra's daemon. He realizes it it what is most critical to the entire anti-authority cause.

I think the temptation is Mary's story (where she throws away her crucifix etc.) so in turn she is the tempter. Her story is the temptation that led Lyra to have feelings for Will, I think.

i think most people dont understand the role of the serpant, in genesis the snake is the only one telling the truth. God tells adam and eve that if they eat the fruit of knowledge of good and evil they will die. this isnt the truth at all, the snake merely tells adam and eve what will truely happen if they eat the fruit, which is that they will become like god because they will have true free will because the will know good and evil. Its the knowledge of what will true happen that tempts them, do they do what God said they should do? even though they know hes lying but shouldnt they obay god regardless, or do they give in to their 'vanity' disobeying god but becoming like god at the same time.
Ive always liked the serpant as a character! because people are told its evil when infact its far from it, its only 'evil' becuase it disobeys god

Check out under the "Subtle Knife" thread the topic "Is Will supposed to be Adam?"

Well, it is kind of the truth. It didn't mean they would die immediately. It meant they would no longer be immortal and would eventually die.
