Source please.
So tell me now, o tell me this: a forest’s son, a river’s daughter, a willow wand, a will-o-wisp.
Our ghosts will wander all of the water.

Haha, I wouldn't be too quick to believe things like that until you're certain.
Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling?

Re: How Long???
I was quite confused by their trip in the land of the dead, because as I understood it there was no food to be had (at least not for the Gallivespians' dragonflies, and I know how much food you need for a few weeks' trekking, you can't carry that in a little kiddie's backpack). So it couldn't possibly have taken more than a few days. But afterward, they turn out to be right near Asriel's fortress and can easily cut through to a place in Mulefa-Siberia.
Well, I think one shouldn't take things that seriously. After all, it's also nice how things incidentally fit so well in space. I mean, the Knife could have been in Specter-Buenos Aires as well, would have took them a bit of travelling.

Re: How Long???
I agree with the others, 3-4 months.

Re: How Long???
I trust it took nigh to a year. You really can't judge in these books. Sometimes it seems like only a couple weeks, sometimes years and years.
